GE and YG-1: A Big Leap forward in Energy Business
Turbine Factory in Elblag (Poland) part of GE POWER’s sector, produces reaction and impulse steam turbines delivered to power plants all over the world. The Polish factory’s 23 automated 5-axis machining centres in the Blade Production Department produce more than 150,000 rotating and stationary blades for turbines annually. The length of our blades vary from 25 to 1750 mm. In order to produce the world's best turbines, we are pursuing the best performance and quality when we choose raw materials and tools. That is why we are using special steels including high-chromium steel that has high strength and abrasion resistance and austenitic steel which has high corrosion resistance and thermal resistance as well as titanium, a metal with low density and high strength and nimonic alloy which is famous for its ability to withstand very high temperatures. In our production, we mainly use Jet Power and X-Power carbide end mills as well as i-Dream Drill carbide drill Inserts which are tools for High-speed precision machining.
